Dean's Message
I am extremely honored to have the opportunity to serve as the ninth dean of the school. UC Davis is world-renowned for its veterinary leadership. Through our research, training and public service we routinely demonstrate that animal, human and planetary health are all interconnected and that veterinary medicine is a key link to improving health and wellbeing globally.
I’m excited to be part of a team that illustrates through action how integrated health helps make our world a better place. Feature articles in this issue focus on our leadership in education. I’m proud of how our programs prepare students to be preeminent veterinarians who are ready for all aspects of the profession. We also profile several of our resident alumni and give you an idea of how our residency program helps to advance veterinary medicine around the globe.
Please read the update on the Veterinary Medical Center, which is one of my highest priorities. Thank you to everyone who is supporting the creation of this transformational medical campus. Our donors, alumni, and larger community raise us up and ensure our success.
This issue includes a brief article about what drew me to Davis and my vision coming in. By the time this magazine is printed, I’ll have been on the job for about a month and will be spending my time on a 90-day listening campaign. I am very interested in learning more about the school and university communities and hearing your thoughts, reflections, and aspirations. I look forward to working with you to bring the school to even greater heights. If we haven’t met yet, I look forward to it. Thank you for being so welcoming to me and my family. We are excited to make the Davis area our new home.
