Giving in Action

Olaf, a 10-month-old Newfoundland pup, was diagnosed at five months with severe luxation in both hind knee joints when he was suddenly unable to walk. The only recourse was a complex set of surgeries to correct the condition.

Thanks to the Grammar Rose Compassionate Care Fund, he was able to get the necessary treatment and will soon return to his “job” as a service dog. “When the UC Davis veterinary team told me about a donor-supported fund that could cover part of Olaf’s surgery, it felt like someone quietly slid a safety net under us,” said Rebecca Kelly. “One generous gift turned ‘how will we manage?’ into ‘we’re already on our way.’
